I'm Alexis Berlin

For as long as I can remember, I wanted a life that was big — far bigger than the small Ohio town that raised me. I was the teenager who wanted to be President, who skipped seventh grade to get a head start on changing the world. On weekends, I ran political conferences, debated policy, and advocated for public education at the State Capitol. I was relentless. I was hopeful. I was chasing something more.

And I got everything I set out to achieve.

I became the first student in my school district’s history to attend Harvard University, graduating with High Honors. I landed a coveted role at McKinsey & Company - a firm I hadn’t even heard of before college - and rose quickly through the ranks to become one of its youngest-ever managers. I spent years advising the world’s most iconic brands on how to transform their strategies and grow faster.

I had the title, the prestige, and the seat at the table I had always craved. 

And still, I felt deeply unfulfilled.

So, I did what many ambitious kids from humble beginnings eventually do: I went home.

I stepped out of the boardroom and back into the world I came from,  supporting my family’s small business and reconnecting with the spirit of entrepreneurship that had been around me all along. In the process, I found something I hadn’t expected: purpose.

I saw just how rare, and essential, it is to bring world-class business strategy to small business owners, tradespeople, and independent entrepreneurs. I realized just how much impact I could make by equipping these leaders with the tools and confidence they needed to grow on their own terms.

In 2025, I founded Maverick Growth Academy to do just that: help entrepreneurs scale with the same clarity, discipline, and strategic firepower once reserved for billion-dollar brands.

Why I Do It

I’ve coached some of the biggest brands in the world, but I’ve never felt more fulfilled than when I’m helping small business owners build something extraordinary.

I do this work because entrepreneurs deserve world-class strategy, not guesswork, and they have been denied that opportunity and duped by coaches selling snake oil for too long.

I dedicate myself to small business in particular because the people with the most heart are too often the ones with the fewest resources, and because I believe small businesses are not just engines of personal growth but powerful forces for economic mobility and community transformation.

When small business owners scale with clarity and purpose, they don’t just grow a business. They change their lives, their families, their communities, and societies as a whole for the better. I do this work so that I can help small business leaders unleash their full potential to drive that change.
